Duties and responsibilities:
• Teach, coordinate and assess Financial Accounting or Managerial Accounting and Finance or Taxation or Auditing modules offered by the School of Accountancy at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Develop students’ digital acumen and other relevant graduate attributes.
• Contribute to curriculum development and innovation to ensure that the module offerings accommodate the requirements of professional accountancy bodies (e.g. SAICA’s AGA and CA of the Future Competency Framework) and the changing world of work.
• Contribute to advancing the pedagogical practices followed in the School of Accountancy.
• Conduct research and publish in quality journals.
• Attend and present at conferences, research colloquia, workshops, and webinars/seminars.
• Develop and maintain relationships with the relevant research community, the accountancy profession, and professional bodies to establish collaborations and partnerships.
• Perform administrative duties within the School of Accountancy.
For the senior lecturer post, the following additional duties and responsibilities are applicable:
• Perform an academic leadership role in the School of Accountancy, including overseeing quality assurance.
• Supervise postgraduate students with their Honours, Masters or PhD theses/research projects.
• Mentor junior staff to achieve their academic/career goals.
For the associate professor post, the following additional duties and responsibilities to the lecturer level are applicable:
• Perform an academic leadership role within the EMS Faculty or wider university community.
• Supervise postgraduate students with their Honours, Masters or PhD theses/research projects.
• Mentor junior staff to achieve their academic/career goals.
• Publish quality, peer-reviewed outputs and conference proceedings at frequent intervals.
Inherent requirements:
Lecturer
• A Master’s degree on NQF Level 9 in Accountancy or related discipline, emanating from a BCom Honours in Accounting/BAccounting Honours or related SAICA endorsed NQF Level 8 qualification,
or
• A Chartered Accountant (SA) (attach proof of SAICA membership, less than 3 months old from the closing date of applications (i.e., download letter from SAICA Members’ Portal) holding an NQF Level 8 qualification in Accountancy or related discipline (BCom Honours in Accounting/B Accounting Honours, or related SAICA endorsed degree) (attach a copy).
• A good academic record (attach a copy from the first year of higher education studies up to and including the highest qualification).
Senior Lecturer
• A relevant PhD degree on NQF Level 10 emanating from an MCom and BCom Honours in Accounting/MAcc and B Accounting Honours or related SAICA endorsed NQF Level 9 and 8 qualifications,
or
• A Chartered Accountant (SA) (attach proof of SAICA membership, less than 3 months old from the closing date of applications (i.e., download letter from SAICA Members’ Portal) holding a Master’s degree on NQF Level 9 in Accountancy or related discipline, emanating from a BCom Honours in Accounting/BAccounting Honours or related SAICA endorsed NQF Level 8 qualification,
• A good academic record (attach a copy from the first year of higher education studies up to and including the highest qualification).
• Proven experience in the successful facilitation of learning in the accountancy field.
• Has made quality contributions to the advancement of knowledge within the higher education or accountancy-in-business field.
• Has produced proven high-quality scholarly publications or technical reports in the field of accountancy.
• Has a proven track record of successful supervision at Honours/Master's level.
Associate Professor
• A relevant PhD degree on NQF Level 10 emanating from an MCom and BCom Honours in Accounting/MAcc and B Accounting Honours or related SAICA endorsed NQF Level 9 and 8 qualifications.
• A Chartered Accountant (SA) (attach proof of SAICA membership, less than 3 months old from the closing date of applications (i.e., download letter from SAICA Members’ Portal).
• An NRF rating or equivalent.
• Has a track record of successful supervision at Master’s/PhD level.
• An excellent track record of academic leadership in professional programmes.
• Proven experience in the successful facilitation of learning in the accountancy field.
• Has made quality contributions to the advancement of knowledge within the higher education or accountancy-in-business field.
• Has produced high-quality scholarly publications or technical reports in the field of Accountancy.
• Demonstrable record of providing academic leadership.
Recommendations:
Lecturer

Associate Professor
